PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photoreceptor having a hydrophobic property of the surface enhanced to such degree that a heater for heating the photoreceptor is made unnecessary. SOLUTION: A photoconductive layer 3 comprising an organic semiconductor material and surface protecting layer 4 comprising fluorine-containing amorphous silicon carbide or amorphous carbon are successively laminated on an electrically conductive substrate 2 to obtain the objective photoreceptor 1. The surface protecting layer 4 has >=90 kgf/mm2 dynamic indentation hardness and 12-35 at.% fluorine content.
