摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound suitable as a nonlinear optical material showing high second harmonic wave generation(SHG) by connecting each specified carborane and fullerene with a specified conjugate crosslinking aromatic group. SOLUTION: The fullerene-carborane rigid hybrid compound consists of carborane and fullerene connected with a conjugate crosslinking aromatic group. The carborane is expressed by formula I, the fullerene is expressed by formula II, and the conjugate crosslinking aromatic group is expressed by formula III. The fullerene-carborane rigid rod hybrid compound has not only high beta value but high stability so that it can be handled similarly to a normal compound in air. Therefore, the compound is suitable as a nonlinear optical material showing high SHG, and it can be used for various purposes such as a wavelength converting device, nonlinear material and optical disk.</p>
