PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience by starting recording based on a waiting period at the time of recoding animation and finishing the recording based on the recording period of animation/sound so as to give a useful self-timer function corresponding to a case when a still picture and animation can be recorded. SOLUTION: In self-timer photographing, two periods of a waiting time and an animation/sound recording period can be set as time setting concerning a self-timer. Then, at the time of recording animation, photographing (recording) is started when the set waiting period passes after the operation of a release key and the animation recording is finished with the lapse of the set animation/ sound recording period. In this recorder, in a count down area A12, the animation/sound recording period set to an animation/sound recording period setting area A17 on a detailed setting picture is counted down and the recording of animation/sound is continued until count down display becomes zero.
