PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow each communication terminal to select separate paths and transmission dials, even if a closed number dialed from each terminal is the same. SOLUTION: In this closed number selection method, communication terminals contained in a private branch exchange are divided into a plurality of groups, to which a group number is added, a retrieval range of a closed number definition table 31 is assigned for every group number, and a group-classified closed number division table 32, which designates the head position and final position of each assigned retrieval range for every group, is prepared. For example, when a communication terminal belongs to a group G1, the head position and the final position are obtained from the group G1 in the group-classified closed number division table 32 to designate a retrieval range A in the closed number definition table 31, then the path and transmission dial defined by a closed number which matches a dial number depressed by the communication terminal are decided by referencing this range A.
