PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photograph-like image having high accuracy from a multi-band image by converting the exposure density obtained from the multi- band image into a logarithmic exposure light quantity via a 2nd table and converting the logarithmic exposure light quantity into the image density via a 1st three-dimensional look-up table(3DLUT). SOLUTION: An object 30, that is irradiated by a light source 28, is photographed by a multi-band camera 12, and the exposure density EDijk of every pixel is calculated about the obtained multi-band digital image data for obtaining an exposure density image ED. At a density image conversion part 22, a one-dimensional look-up table(1DLUT) 26 and a 3DLUT 24 are used on the exposure density EDijk and to the density EDijk and logarithmic exposure value Log Eijk, for converting the value Log Eijk into the image density Dijk and converting the density EDijk into the density Dijk respectively. Then a density image D, having the density Dijk as its each pixel value, is outputted to a photographic material as an image 34 via a laser printer 16.
