PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disk-reproducing apparatus which can improve an ECC- processing speed while holding a high error-detecting efficiency and can reproduce disks at high speed with a high reliability. SOLUTION: The disk-reproducing apparatus includes a pickup 12 and an RF amplifier 13 for reading out information recorded to an optical disk 11, a signal-processing circuit 14 for processing signals generated by the RF amplifier 13, a decoder 20 for carrying out an error-correcting process for data supplied from the signal-processing circuit, and transferring error-corrected data outside, and a buffer RAM 25 to which data from the signal-processing circuit is temporarily written to be accessed at the error-correcting process. In this case, the decoder has a syndrome calculation circuit 201 for syndrome calculating a P correcting sequence with the utilization of an ECC parity concurrently with writing data to the buffer RAM.
