PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dust from sticking to a mirror without using a mirror- closed structure by driving a motor for rotating the mirror in the reverse rotation direction except when a latent image is written on an image carrier. SOLUTION: A main control part 22 monitors temperatures of a fixation part 11, for example, when it judges that the temperature is 150 deg.C or higher, it transmits a motor halting signal and a normal rotation signal to a write part 25. When the main control part judges that the temperatures of the fixation part 11 are in a proper range centering 185 deg.C and an image data is transmitted from a print controller 21, a polygon driving part 27 rotates a motor 16 in the normal direction to drive a polygon mirror in the normal direction. On the other hand, an LD control part 26 emits a beam, which is modulated according to the image data, toward the polygon mirror to write the latent image. When the temperature is judged lower than 150 deg.C, a reverse rotation signal and a motor driving signal are transmitted to the write part 25, and the polygon driving part 27 rotates the motor in the reverse direction.
