PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breake of a heating element and to improve high rate discharging characteristics by stacking plural unit cells comprising a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and an electrolyte, arranging current collectors on the upper and lower surfaces of a heating element interposed between the unit cells, and arranging the heating element having conductivity within a through hole in the central part of the heating element. SOLUTION: An uppermost heating element 2 and an intermediate heating element 2' are constituted so that heat from the uppermost heating element 2 is transmitted to the intermediate heating element 2' with a fuse body 7. A through hole is in the central part of the intermediate heating element 2', the heating element 15 having conductivity is arranged within the through-hole, and conductivity between unit cells 1, 1',1" is increased to enable high rate discharging of a battery. The heating element 15 having conductivity is desirable to be made mainly of iron and potassium perchlorate. A positive electrode 12 is connected to a current collector 6 on the positive electrode plate 3 side of the uppermost unit cell 1, and a positive electrode 13 is connected to a current collector 6 on the negative electrode plate 5 side of the lowermost unit cell 1".
