PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an element for photodetecting visible rays from photodetecting non-visible rays at the time of reading a picture through the use of a line CCD, etc., and to prevent the generation of deviation at the reading position of the visible ray and that of the non-visible ray. SOLUTION: A CCD scanner 14 alternately execute the photo detection of the visible ray by the CCD arrays 70R, 70G and 70B of a line CCD 30 and the photodetection of infrared rays by a CCD array 70IR while carrying a photographic film at a prescribed speed, to read the visible picture and an infrared picture nearly at the same position on the photographic film. The arrays 70R, 70G and 70B are prevented from photodetecting the infrared ray by lighting IR-LED 76 only at the time of photodetecting the infrared ray by the array 70IR.
