PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and low-cost manufacturing method for it with mass-production, suppressing the spread of electrons emitted from an electron source, reducing the size of pixel, and realizing high definition of images, with a simple structure. SOLUTION: An image forming device includes a glass board 8 to form a face plate installed confronting an electron source 5, and at the confronting surface of the glass board 8, projections 9 as R, G, B dots constituting a pixel having a semicircular section perpendicular to the surface of the glass board 8 are formed in the rows and columns of pixels, and the surface of glass board 8 between the projections 9 is provided with recesses 10, having a rectangular section in which spacers 11 are to be fitted. The recesses 10 are formed by subjecting the glass board 8 to sand-blasting. The R, G, B phosphor substances to emit visible rays of ligt with a transparent electrode and electron are applied to the respective surfaces of three projections 9 to constitute each pixel, and thus a fluorescent screen is established.
