PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive device for inspecting the defect of a belt body for obtaining a specific inspection result. SOLUTION: A defect inspection device 10 of a belt body is provided with a light projection means 11 for projecting light to the surface of a belt body 50 being carried continuously, an image pickup means 12 for picking up the image of light L1 via the belt body 50, a drive means 13 for driving the image pickup means 12, and a signal-processing device 20 for judging a defect P based on a video signal being outputted from the image pickup means 12. Then, when the defect P is detected by the signal processing device 20, the shutter speed of the image pickup means 12 is adjusted by the drive means 13 so that a value exceeding a specific threshold can be detected at a specific number of same points of horizontal scanning that continue out of a plurality of horizontal scanning of a video signal.
