PURIFICATION METHOD OF CRUDE 3-CHLORO-2-HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMETHYLAMMONIUM CHLORIDE

PURPOSE: A method for purifying crude 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride containing trimethylammonium hydrochloride is provided, simply without using a molecular sieve or an active carbon. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the step of adding sodium hydrochloride(NaOCl) or sodium hydroxide(NaOH) to an aqueous solution of 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride containing trimethylammonium hydrochloride to remove the unreacted trimethylammonium hydrochloride. Preferably the addition amount of 3-5% sodium hydrochloride or 3-5% sodium hydroxide is 0.5-4.0g by 1 kg of an aqueous solution of 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride with a purity of 50-75%.
