PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the detection of operation of a gas amount regulating lever without adding any different member to the gas flow rate regulating lever. SOLUTION: The flow rate of gas supplied to a gas burner is regulated by a gas flow rate regulating lever 23. A thermocouple 22 is arranged near the burner port of the gas burner while the presence of flame on the gas burner and the flow rate of gas supplied to the gas burner are judged based on the output voltage of the thermocouple 22. A timer 10a starts the counting operation of the same simultaneously with the ignition of the gas burner and when a change, overriding a set threshold value in a gas amount judging means 10c, is generated in the output voltage of the thermocouple 22, the timer 10a is re-triggered. When the limited time of the timer 10a is finished, a safety valve 11, inserted on the supplying route of fuel gas to the gas burner, is closed whereby the fire of the gas burner is extinguished.
