PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching element of optical address system which improves optical interconnection between a light source and a photo-conductive layer, reduces cost with a simple configuration and improves a producing yield. SOLUTION: This switching element comprises two glass substrates 11, 12 arranged to be piled up on the top and bottom in parallel respectively, a 1st transparent electrode 15 being a source electrode, a photo-conductive layer 16, an intermediate layer 17, a display layer 18, a 2nd transparent electrode 12a being a drain electrode which are sequentially laminated from the lower side, and a light source 13 of a line array form arranged adjacent directly under the photo-conductive layer. The switching element is constituted so that the intermediate layer 13 is served as a metallic reflecting plate or a transparent electrode.
