PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the communication time of a facsimile equipment by performing the facsimile communication with a prescribed server, checking at each fixed time whether the data to be received by the server are available, discriminating the type of data when the data to be received are available and shortening a prescribed time interval when the data are of a prescribed type. SOLUTION: It is decided whether the receiving data obtained in a full mode shows a transmission request given from a transmitting facsimile. When the said transmission request is detected, a signal of level '0' is outputted to a signal line 20a and a CML relay is turned off. When 10 seconds, for example, elapse under such conditions, a signal of level '1' is outputted to the line 20a to turn on the CML relay and a PSTN 44 is connected to a modem 8. Then a service provider is called via a calling circuit 22 and the capability declaration processing is carried out by an SMTP. Then the POP processing interval is shortened and the subsequent POPRTIM value is set to 10 minutes.
