PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic separator enabling foreign substances to be surely separated through continually giving sufficient static electricity, regardless to the atmosphere in a tea manufacturing plant. SOLUTION: This electrostatic separator comprises a rotary drum 34 set up under the terminal end 33a of a vibratory conveyor 33 and rotatable while being grounded, an electrically charged drum 35 set up close to the rotary drum 34 and rotatable while being electrically charged with positive electric charge, and an air jet means 38 for removing foreign substances stuck on the drum 35, and functions to pass tea leaves fallen on the rotary drum 34 through the gap between the rotary drum 34 and the electrically charged drum 35 and stick foreign substances on the drum 35 and separate them. An incandescent lamp 37 is equipped as a means of humidifying the space around the electrically charged drum 35.
