PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a device by which the calculation of image processing in the case of obtaining an optimum focal position is executed at high speed. SOLUTION: The position of a focus lens 1 is changed stepwise by a focusing means 2. An image of an eyeball 100 is obtained through the focus lens 1, and is outputted as the multilevel image to an isolated area number measuring part 4 by an image pickup part 3. The multilevel image is binarized, and the number of isolated areas in the binarized image is measured by the isolated area number measuring part 4. A focus decision part 5 decides the position of the focus lens 1 at the point when the number of the isolated areas measured by the isolated area number measuring part 4 is maximum as the optimum focal position. |
