PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new seat surface height adjusting device to be used for constituting a chair the height of the seat surface of which can optionally be adjusted. SOLUTION: A fixing side frame 7 provided with rail-formed grooves on both of right and left edges is constituted, a movable side frame 24 is arranged over the frame 7, an upper side idling ring is fitted to the rail-formed grooves at the frame 24, and a lower side idling ring is fitted to the rail-formed grooves at the frame 7. At upward leg rods 11, 12 and a downward leg rod 29, places where a distance from a movable-side end is longer than that from a fixed-side end are mutually supported by a supporting point axis 33, a rising arm is erected at the medium position of a lower side rotary shaft 10, and an actuator 37 having an expansion/contraction shaft 36 is arranged between the rising arm and the rear edge part of the frame 7. The non-expanding/contracting end side of the actuator 37 is connected to the rear edge part through a connecting shaft 41 and the tip of the shaft 36 is connected to that of the rising arm through the connecting shaft 41.
