PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a self-supporting type optical cable capable of suppressing, at an allowable value or less, an increase in a loss due to the protrusion of coated optical fibers from the end of the jacket, in a self-supporting type optical cable having an optical cable body consisting of optical fibers movably stored inside a hollow tubular jacket. SOLUTION: An optical cable body 1 is constituted of a tubular jacket 2, with coated optical fibers 4 contained in the storing space 3. A supporting line part 6 is twined supporting lines 7 with a coating 8 applied on it. The optical cable body and the supporting line part are intermittently connected with connectors 9. The optical cable body is designed to have a length not less than 100.15% and not more than 100.40% compared with the supporting line part.
