PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly and efficiently decompose nitrogen oxides by permitting nitrogen oxides in an exhaust gas which was generated by main fuel combustion to be reduced by a reducing gas which was generated by simultaneous combustion of solid combustibles as an secondary fuel. SOLUTION: Combustion in a combustion device consists of mixed combustion of main fuel combustion and combustion using solid combustibles, i.e., combustible solid as an secondary fuel. The amount of the secondary fuel fed to the combustion device is determined relatively to the quantity of heat from the fed main fuel. The amount of the fed secondary fuel is equivalent to the amount by which the heat quantity ratio of the secondary fuel occupies 5-50% of the total heat quantity brought to the combustion device by the main fuel and the secondary fuel. Further, injection is conducted in a burning device by an exclusive nozzle for the secondary fuel at a speed lower than the injection speed of the main fuel in order to allow produced reducing gas to reductively react, neither too much nor too less, on nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of the main fuel combustion. Thus, by conducting injection at such a speed and forming a reducing flame, nitrogen oxides in the main fuel combustion exhaust gas can be sufficiently reduced.
|
