PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the generation of incomplete combustion gas and prevent the diffusion of the same into a room upon the fire extinguishing operation of a kerosene combustion device. SOLUTION: A pot 3, whose side wall is provided with air ports 3a, is arranged in the supplying duct 2 of combustion air, a red-heat type heater 6 is attached to the pot and air as well as fuel are supplied by a combustion fan 1 and a fuel supplying means 4 to effect igniting combustion. An air sending passage 9, connected to a front surface outlet port 15, is provided in the frame body 7 of a combustion device and combustion gas, discharged from the pot into the air sending passage 9, is sent out of an air outlet port by an indoor ventilating fan 8. When fire extinguishing means 10 is operated, the energizing of the heater 6 is started and the operation of the fuel supplying means is stopped, then, the control means of the indoor ventilating fan maintains a high-speed rotation until the counting of a first timer is finished and, thereafter, switches the rotation into a low-speed rotation and returns the indoor ventilating fan into the high-speed rotation after combustion flame becomes small or fire is extinguished. While a large amount of incomplete combustion gas is discharged from the pot 3 on the way of fire extinguishing, the indoor ventilating fan maintains low-speed rotation and combustion gas, discharged to the outside of the frame body, ascends to the ceiling of the room by natural convection whereby the diffusion of the incomplete combustion gas is prevented.
