PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the resistance component of a contact part between an electrode and a battery case for improving current collection and to improve a discharge characteristic by abutting the electrode on the battery case via a carbon material held on the surface of an inside wall of the battery case. SOLUTION: This battery is provided with an electrode composed by forming an active material layer on a collector, and a battery case having a current collection function. A carbon material is held on the surface of an inside wall of the battery case, and the electrode is abutted on the battery case through the carbon material. Since the carbon material can secure sufficient conductivity, a single substance, a mixture or a composite of graphite, a carbon black kind, carbon fiber, glass-fiber carbon and a coke kind is desirably used. As a helding form for the carbon material, it is desirably held uniformly over the entire surface in a thickness of around 0.1-50μm as a carbon layer. Preferably, the collector be formed of aluminum, and the battery case be made of aluminum as well.
