PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the influence of stray light by a light beam reflected on a surface to be scanned in an optical scanner equipped with a reflection mirror reflecting the light beams toward the surface to be s canned. SOLUTION: Assuming that the width of a cylindrical mirror 18 constituting the optical scanner is (w), a distance from the reflection surface of the mirror 18 to the surface to be scanned 22 is (1), the spread angle of the light beam L made incident on the surface 22 isβand the incident angle of the light beam L on the surface 22 isθ, the incident angleθof the light beam L on the surface 22 is set to satisfyθ>=ϕ/4+w/ (2√21) considering thatθandϕare very small and considering the spread angleβof the light beam L. Thus, the reflected light on the surface 22 by the light beam L is prevented from being made incident on the mirror 18, so that the influence of the stray light is eliminated.
