PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish high-speed display which is free of errors by accumulating wall electric charges required to make sustaining by an address discharge in a short time as much as possible. SOLUTION: A plurality of sustaining electrode couples in which the sustaining electrodes in couples are installed with discharge slits interposed, are arranged parallel with counter-slits interposed and a unit light emitting region is partitioned in the intersecting part of each sustaining electrode couple and address electrode, so that a three-electrode type AC plasma display panel 4 is formed, wherein the distance from the center of the discharge slit S14 to the counter-slit differs between the sustaining electrodes X4 and Y4 which constitute a couple, and address discharge for selecting light emission in the unit light emitting region is generated by the address electrode A4 and sustaining electrode Y4 on the shorter distance side.
