PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring the lining hardness of a butterfly valve capable of measuring the hardness of a corrosion-resistant lining from the outside of a piping to diagnose the life thereof. SOLUTION: In a butterfly valve wherein a rubber lining 8 is applied to the entire inner peripheral surface of a valve box 1, an inspection port 9 capable of exposing a part 8a of the rubber lining 8 to the outside is formed to the valve box 1, and a hardness meter 12 is pressed to the rubber lining 8a exposed through the inspection port 9 in such a state that the inspection cover 10 opening and closing the inspection port 9 is detached to measure the hardness of the rubber lining 8 to diagnose the life thereof.
