A device and a method for processing a specimen and the other materials capable of forming a cut face and/or a cut-in without causing a deformation, rupture, or deterioration on the materials by a simple formation and operation so that highly accurate analysis, observation, and recording can be performed, wherein a part of a material (11) is supported, through filler (13), on a holding part (4) of a holding unit (1) and fixed by a fixing member (5), a projection part (11b) of the material (11) is held by a projection part receiving part (7) of a receiving table (2), dry ice is stored in dry ice storing parts (6a) and (6b), the material (11) is frozen instantaneously and, with gaseous phase substituted, the material (11) is cut with a cutter (22) to form the cut face (14) and/or cut-in (15). |
