摘要 Preparation of a monoalkyl glyceryl ether (I) involves: (1) catalytic reaction of a glycerol derivative, comprising a 2-mono- or 2,2-di-substituted 4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane (II), with a conjugated diene (III) to give an etherified product (IV) with an alkadienyl group by dimerization of (III); (2) catalytic hydrogenation of the alkadienyl group over a group VIII element; and (3) acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of the acetal or ketal part of (IV). Preparation of a monoalkyl glyceryl ether (I) involves: (1) reacting a glycerol derivative, comprising a 2-mono- or 2,2-di-substituted 4-hydroxymethyl-1,3-dioxolane of formula (II), with a conjugated diene (III) in the presence of a palladium (Pd) compound and a tertiary phosphine or phosphite or a Pd-tertiary-phosphine or phosphite complex to give an etherified product (IV) with an alkadienyl group by dimerization of (III); (2) hydrogenating the alkadienyl group in (IV) in a hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of a group VIII (group 8 to 10) element as catalyst; and (3) hydrolyzing the acetal or ketal part of (IV) in the presence of an acid catalyst. R<1>, R<2> = 1-10 carbon (C) hydrocarbyl or together form a ring or, one case, hydrogen (H).
