The read-out device has an X-ray source (11) for stimulating in information line (34) of a storage layer (15), with detection of the emitted secondary radiation via a linear light-sensor array (18). The light-sensor elements of the latter have a greater width in the direction transverse to the information line than in the direction of the information line. An Independent claim for an X-ray cassette with an information storage layer and an information read-out device is also included.
