PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a barrier rib manufacturing method, capable of shortening the barrier rib manufacturing process for a barrier rib of a plasma display panel and forming barrier rib superior in the shape and provide a resin composition element for its formation. SOLUTION: A resin composition layer (A), consisting of an organic substance containing binder polymer and inorganic substance(s), is installed on a base board furnished with a plurality of relief patterns removable, and a resin composition layer (B) for forming a barrier rib consisting of an organic substance containing binder polymer and inorganic substance is installed on the layer (A), and pressure is applied to the layer (B) so that the layers (A) and (B) are embedded in the gaps between the relief patterns, and then the relief patterns are removed so that a pattern consisting of resin composition for barrier rib formation is formed on the board, and this pattern is subjected to a baking process.
