PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make excellently viewable information recording symbols even when incident light is slight and to facilitate the alignment of the symbols. SOLUTION: This information recording symbol reader 7 has an image sensor 21 which optically reads out an information recording symbol 4 of specific area printed on printed matter 1, etc., through a data read opening 15 and a decoding means which converts the information recording symbol 4 into specific corresponding data according to the image data read by the image sensor 21. The data read opening 15 is closed and isolated from the external field and partially formed of a primary filter 24 which hardly transmits specific wavelength light and can transmit other visible light; and a secondary filter 19 which preferentially transmits the wavelength light that the primary filter 24 hardly transmits and hardly transmits other light and a lighting device 18 which can emit at least the wavelength light that the secondary filter 19 can transmit and the wavelength light that the primary filter 24 can transmit and irradiates the information recording symbol 4 are arranged in the optical path to the image sensor. |
