PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnet powder wherein manufacturing cost is low as compared with the conventional roll quenching method, and magnetic characteristic is not inferrier to characteristic obtained by the roll quenching method, in a rare earth magnet of Sm-Fe-C system or Sm-Fe-N system, and to provide a high performance bond magnet using the magnet powder. SOLUTION: Molten metal of Sm-Fe-C based magnet alloy is powdered by an atomization process, and magnet powder having alloy composition shown by formula I: SmxFe100-x-y-zCyMz (where M is one kind or two or more kinds out of Si, Al and Ga, x, y and z are numeric values expressed by atom %, and 7<=x<=17, 1.6<=y<=13.9, 0.5<=z<=8) is obtained. In another case, nitriding treatment follows the powdering by the atomization process, and magnet powder having alloy composition shown by a formula II: SmxFe100-x-y'-z-vCy'MzNv (where M has the same meaning as the above, and 7<=x<=17, 0<=y'<=13.0, 0.5<=z<=8) is obtained. As the atomization process, gas spraying, water spraying, gas-water spraying and centrifugal spraying can be adopted. |
