PURPOSE: A composition for reducing the concentration of lipoprotein cholesterol and the total cholesterol in blood, and a method thereof are provided to suppress or retard the crisis of atherosclerosis as much as possible by including a plant sterol, a soybean protein material and the like. CONSTITUTION: The composition for reducing the concentration of lipoprotein cholesterol comprises a soybean protein material containing at least 49 wt. percent soybean protein expressed in terms of the dried weight of the soybean protein material; at least one isoflavone selected from genistein, daidzein, glyciteine, biochanin-A, formononetin, and a glucoside and glucoside conjugate thereof present in nature; and at least 0.49 wt. percent plant sterol based on the composition. The soybean protein material is preferably a separated product of the soybean protein, especially the concentration of the soybean protein or the like. |
