COLOR FILTER, ITS PRODUCTION AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DEVICE USING SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the formation of a protrusion due to the cubical expansion of each colored part, the occurrence of density distribution in the colored part and color mixing between colored parts different from each other in color when each colored part is formed by imparting an ink to an ink receiving layer formed on a transparent substrate to produce a color filter. SOLUTION: An ink receiving layer 3 formed on a transparent substrate 1 with a photosensitive composition is patternwise exposed to form a part 6 to be colored and a part 5 which is not colored owing to lost ink receiving ability, the ink receiving layer 3 is then subjected to general exposure to lower the ink receiving ability of the surface layer 7 of the part 6 to be colored and an ink 9 is imparted to the part 6 to be colored by an ink jet system to color the part 6. The lowering of flatness due to a protrusion formed on the surface of each colored part and the occurrence of density distribution are prevented while preventing color mixing between adjacent colored parts and the objective color filter excellent in display grade is obtained by a simple process. When the color filter is used, the objective liquid crystal device having higher color display quality and good reliability is obtained at a low cost.
