PURPOSE: The method for controlling input digit display in a private switching system is provided to prevent exposing of user's important information by analyzing the end mark tone information of a digit input request message and then controlling display the digit information inputted from the subscriber terminal. CONSTITUTION: If a call path is connected between a subscriber terminal connected to a private switching system A and a private switching system B in which a voice mail system is constructed, the voice mail system sends a service selection request message with a DTMF tone signal to the private switching system A side(S11). A tone detection part in the private switching system A side detects an end mark tone from the received service selection request message and judges that the end mark tone is '0x0d' which is appointed to protect input digit information. If it is judged that the end mark tone is '0x0d', the tone detection part supplies the end mark tone '0x0d' to a trunk access part(S12). The trunk access part provides an input digit protection message to an extension access part(S13) and makes a digit protection mode set up(S14). If the end mark tone is '0x0e' which indicates that protection for input digit information is not necessary, the trunk access part supplies a relevant message to the extension access part and makes an ordinary mode set up(S24).
