PURPOSE: A device for cooling an engine is provided to cut down the expense at layout with installing an expansion tank regardless of position, to install in the bonnet type vehicle, and to install an additional tank without restriction on size. CONSTITUTION: An expansion tank(14) is divided into the upper part and the lower part by a division plate(17). Check valves(15,16) are mounted opposite to each other in the division plate and operated according to the surrounding pressure condition. A coolant inlet(9) is covered with a pressure cap(9a) and installed in an upper part of a radiator(1). The layout of an engine room in a vehicle is easy and needless to install the expansion tank over the radiator and an engine(18). The engine cooling system is also installed in the bonnet type vehicle.
