PURPOSE: A method and a device for connecting an Internet phone are provided to transmit an IP address to an incoming party through a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) if an originator requests Internet phone connection, and to make the incoming party set up connection through an Internet network by using the transmitted IP address, so as to enable Internet phone speech. CONSTITUTION: If an originating party requests the connection of an Internet phone through a PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) terminal(201), a controller(222) of an Internet phone connection unit of an originating party temporarily stores a corresponding number in a memory(224) and decides whether an official IP(Internet Protocol) address exists. If an official IP address does not exist, the controller(222) attempts connection in a data network(242) through a data network interface unit(232), to secure an official IP address. The controller(222) telephones to an Internet phone connection unit of an incoming party through a PSTN interface unit(231) and a PSTN(241), to transmit a self IP address. The Internet phone connection unit of the incoming party decides whether an official IP address exists. If an official IP address does not exist, the Internet phone connection unit connects with the data network(242) to secure an official IP address. The Internet phone connection unit of the incoming party sets up Internet phone connection through the data network(242) by using the IP address transmitted from the originating party, to enable Internet phone speech. Internet phone connection unit of the incoming party transmits a self IP address to the Internet phone connection unit of the originating party. If connection with the Internet Phone connection unit is set up, the controller(222) drives the operating system and VoIP(Voice over IP) supporting unit(221) and a video/audio/multimedia data processor(223), to enable Internet phone speech.
