<p>A cell culture growth substrate comprising a water soluble glass matrix adapted to sustain growth of living cells. Preferably the substrate comprises or is coated with living cells. The water-soluble glass is advantageously phosphate based and comprises glass fibres or finely comminuted particles. The invention also relates to the use of the growth substrate as an implant to replace or promote repair of damaged tissue in a patient and to a method to encourage growth of living tissue.</p> |
