The X-ray apparatus (19) includes an X-ray system (10, 11), which is in adjustable relative to an object for recording series of two-dimensional projections from the object for reconstructing at least a three dimensional image of the object. The X-ray apparatus (1) includes a device (16, 17, 19) for providing a reproducible adjustment movement of the X-ray system, to enable an off-line determination of the projection geometries required for reconstruction of three-dimensional images. A method of on-line determination of the projection geometry for such an X-ray apparatus is also claimed.
