PURPOSE: A method for driving a liquid crystal device is provided to improve the quality of motion pictures without lowering luminescence and contrast or delaying a signal transfer process according to an electrode. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal device is driven in a continuous frame period. Each frame period is divided into a plurality of sub-frame period including one prior sub-frame period and a final sub-frame period. One prior sub-frame period is shorter than the final sub-frame period. An active device(16) is selected sequentially by each selection period within each sub-frame period. A voltage lower than a voltage applied to a liquid crystal of a pixel in the final sub-frame period is supplied to liquid crystal of each pixel in the prior sub-frame period.
