PURPOSE: To provide the subject brake capable of operating a changeover between non-action mode and action mode with a light force. CONSTITUTION: This centrifugal brake for a double bearing reel is a mechanism 23 for braking a spool by centrifugal force, comprising a plurality of guide shafts 73, a plurality of mobile members 67, a cylindrical brake member, and a changeover mechanism 69; wherein the guide shafts 73 are radially disposed on a member turning interlockingly with the spool; the mobile members 67 are mounted on the guide shafts axially, movably and turnably around the shafts and movable in the radial direction of the spool; the brake member is disposed on the outer peripheral side of the mobile members which can contact therewith where moved radially, and is irrotatable with respect to the reel body; and the changeover mechanism 69 has the function to make a changeover of the mobile members between non-action mode incapable of contacting with the brake member and action mode capable of contacting therewith through shifting the mobile members to turning positions differing in shaft revolution.
