PURPOSE: A medicinal composition for hypertension and lowering of cholesterol containing mixed extract of Panax notoginseng and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge is provided, which maintains normal blood pressure without side effect, and keeps up active effects for a long time, and also prevents heart and blood vessel disease including arteriosclerosis. CONSTITUTION: A process for the preparation of tablets for hypertension and lowering of cholesterol comprises: preparing mixed extract of Panax notoginseng and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge after mixing in the weight ratio of 5:4 using water or ethanol; freeze-drying the extract, and pulverizing into powder; mixing the freeze-dried extract with lactose, avicell(uncrystallized cellulose), sodium starch glyconate(a dissolving adjuvant), L-HPC(Low-hydroxypropylcellulose; a binder) for 20minutes in an 'U'-shaped mixer; adding magnesium stearate(a lubricant), and mixing for 3minutes; pressing into tablets, and film-coating to get the objective products. The medicinal composition for hypertension and lowering of cholesterol also can be prepared in the form of syrup, capsules, drink, and injection.
