The apparatus includes a power supply (2), a signal input (3) and a signal processor (4). The sampling rate for the input signal and/or the clock frequency of digital components (5) can be adjusted automatically via a signal analyser or manually via an operating device (6). The sampling rate and/or clock frequency can be set depending on the state of the power supply. The apparatus may be a hearing aid with an acoustic input transducer (3), and an output transducer (9). The setting of sampling rate and/or clock frequency may be performed automatically based on the acoustic environment.
