The method involves an interpolation unit (1) specifying position demand values with a defined interpolator clock frequency, filtering them in a digital filter (2) and transferring the filtered values to the position regulating circuit (4), which controls movement on a curved path with a defined position regulation clock frequency using the filtered values. The interpolation clock frequency is also set depending on the dynamic characteristics of the machine so that no natural oscillation of the machine is stimulated by the filtered demand values passed to the position regulation circuit. An Independent claim is also included for a circuit for generating position demand values for a position control circuit for a numerically path-controlled machine.
