The invention relates to a continuous method for producing dimethylether by catalytically dehydrating methanol in a reactor at a temperature of from 150 DEG C to 450 DEG C and a pressure of from 1 to 40 bar absolute and purifying the dehydration product by partial condensation and/or absorption. The inventive method is characterized in that the dehydration product, when leaving the reactor, is passed into a combined heat and mass transfer apparatus and is cooled to a temperature below its dew point.
