摘要 In methanol (MeOH) synthesis from hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide under pressure by feeding desulfurized natural gas to a reformer and the synthesis gas (I) to MeOH synthesis, the output is increased by: (a) passing a (I) side stream to a MeOH pre-reactor; (b) adding the MeOH to the main MeOH stream from synthesis; and (c) adding unreacted (I) to the main stream before MeOH synthesis and more (I) to compensate for the loss. An Independent claim is also included for the plant used for the above process, comprising a branch pipe (9) for a (I) side stream (8) leaving the secondary reformer (3); a MeOH pre-reactor (5) in the side stream; a MeOH feed pipe (10) to the MeOH main stream (17) leaving MeOH synthesis (4); a pipe (11) feeding unreacted (I) from the pre-reactor into the (I) main stream (12) before MeOH synthesis (4); and a feed pipe (13) for more (I) to compensate for the loss.
