The brake is positioned in a ventilation play position outside the braking process and the method involves forming a control signal at the start of a braking process on the basis of a pilot control signal with which the wheel brake overcomes the ventilation play, whereby the pilot control signal is dependent on operating parameters. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for controlling a vehicle wheel brake.
