摘要 <p>PURPOSE: A flat panel display is provided to improve the structure of full color and to be capable of operation of high resolution and high efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A plasma flat-panel display(10) comprises a hermetically sealed gas filled enclosure. The enclosure includes a top glass substrate(12) having a plurality of parallel sustaining electrode pairs(22) deposited upon an interior surface thereof and at least one auxiliary electrode(24) associated with each pair of sustaining electrodes(22) deposited upon the interior surface between the associated sustaining electrodes(22). The enclosure also includes a thin dielectric film(26) covering the sustaining(22) and auxiliary electrodes(24) and a bottom glass substrate(14) separated from the top glass substrate(12). The bottom substrate(14) includes a plurality of alternating barrier ribs(34) and microgrooves(32). An address electrode(36) is associated with each microgroove(32) and a phosphor is deposited over a portion of each address electrode(36). The first voltage is applied to the auxiliary electrode(24) to initiate a discharge between the auxiliary electrode(24) and a sustaining electrode(22). The second voltage, that is greater than the first voltage, is applied to the sustaining electrode(22) and causes the discharge to extend between the sustaining electrodes(22).</p>
