PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to improve welding speed by using a first and a second welding electrodes which hold an interval transversely in the moving direction and are insulated to each other when the welding electrodes are moved to a material to be welded. CONSTITUTION: Plates(10,12) to be welded are welded by the welding electrodes C1, C2 being welding wire. The welding electrodes C1, C2 are insulated to each other and connected with the respective welding power sources(100,102). The first welding power source(100) generates a continuous welding cycle having a short-circuit portion and a plasma arc portion in each cycle. Further, a plasma arc portion has a plasma boost section, tail-out section and background current section, in this order. The welding power source(100) is preferably of STT type. Adjusting mechanism for relatively and cooperatively moving the consumable electrodes C1, C2, is provided and has a means for rotating torches around the axes of the consumable electrodes C1, C2.
