The washing machine/dryer has a front loading opening (11) for the washing drum and an access opening (14) for a heat exchanger which is closed by a drop-down closure flap, which is locked and released via a vertically displaced operating rod (20), positioned at the rear of the machine front panel between the loading opening and the access opening. The upper edge (12) of the access opening has a spring-loaded horizontal closure rod (30), acted on by the operating rod, for releasing the drop-down closure flap.
