PURPOSE: An apparatus for polishing the panel of a cathode-ray tube is provided to polish the effective area of the panel uniformly and finely and to reduce a period of time required for polishing the panel. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for polishing the panel of a cathode-ray tube has a polishing tool(120) for polishing the effective area of the panel, and a spindle(116) for rotatably supporting the polishing tool. The apparatus further includes a support unit(122) having a horizontal guide rail at the top, a slider(114) slide-movable on the guide rail, and a slider driver for driving the slider. The slider driver is preferably an actuator. One end of the actuator is placed at a fixing bracket fixed to the guide rail and the other end of the actuator is located at the end of the slider. The guide rail and the slider are in gear with each other.
